The Web3 paradigm

The Web3 paradigm is a new type of internet that will be built on top of the blockchain technology. It’s an open, decentralized internet that allows users to own their data, control their information, and share their experiences with others.
As we move into Web3, self-sovereign identity gives individuals control over their digital identity — one of the most important objectives of the Web3 paradigm. “Anonymous, single sign-on will allow one user name and authentication method across all web sites and accounts, rather than individual logins for each site,” wrote Cuomo in Think Blockchain. “This login would not require you to relinquish control of sensitive personal data.” With Web3 wallets backed by the the appropriate type of blockchain network, users always retain control of their personal identity information (PII) and login credentials.

The concept of self-sovereign identity (SSI)

The concept of self-sovereign identity (SSI) is an extension of the concept of digital identity. SSI is a way to store and manage data such as credentials, preferences and other information that is unique to you, without having to rely on a third party.
